Christmas time in the Schmitz Residence

I would have to say I love our sparse, tall and lanky tree... It's totally us! And we have all these old ornaments from when James and I were kids that our parents gave us. They are so precious and have so many warm and fuzzy memories behind them. I put a few of my favorites here. I think the tree and the ornaments are my favorite Christmas things in our house, hands down. Tonight, Rachel came over and was telling us a story about a bunny ornament we had on our tree, the nostalgia it brings is wonderful. <3
my family.
I love my family. We have been doing a lot more things together and actually spending quite a bit of time together and have lots of plans for december. I can't wait! We took some family photos this past weekend... although, it rained outside so we have to improvise with locations inside the house... I think they came out okay.
Speaking of fmaily, James' mom gets here in 22 days! I can hardly wait!

Life right now
Man oh Man.... I have not gotten to blog in what seems like ages! So many things have changed. Seriously, it seems like I am a completely different person!
I dumped my old job. And when I say dumped, I mean that I broke up with DG Plumbing. On good terms. I just needed to have a more relaxing, fun and caring enviroment. Something DG wasn't providing me. I know work with James at Smencils. It is... how do you say AMAZING in spanish? ha. I love it. I get to talk to my co workers all day, all of whom are great. I get to relax and take a breather once in a while. We randomly stop working to celebrate rediculous all day holidays like Canada Thanksgiving and things like that. We play games and non stop " That's what she said" jokes are said daily. :)
I also moved. Another dumping on my part. James and I were realizing that the heat in our apartment was becoming unbareable. We were cranky with each other and starting to fuss a bit. Not only that, but there was a creeper who had been peeping through our bredroom window about three times, one of wich happend while I was by myself at home. And it started getting too crowded at our apartment, there was never any parking and a lot of druggies started moving in. A sign that we needed to get out of there. We haven't been on a lease since December and just found it time to move on.
This new apartment is cleaning up nicely. We had some problems in the begining. The company had us move in when they still needed a lot of improvements. But this time I am NOT going to keep my mouth shut when things break and stop working. Thaat's the point of a manager and we have had never use our right to excersize that before. I think if we let them know what is going on, we wouldn't end up miserably hot like in our last place.
Highlights about the apartment: AIR CONDITIONING! and it has been such a great tempurature that we haven't even had to use it yet. Location is so much more nicer and safe. Bigger we still have a 2 bed 1 ba but now we have this backyard! Peanut loves it. And we have carpet again. I missed it.
I lost my phone so I had a get a new one, meaning I lost all old numbers. Which doesn't really matter when you don't hang out with half the people you used to. Life has been at a slower pace lately and I LOVE it! James and I try and stay home alot more to spend more time with each other and our dog, Peanut. We are paying more for the new apartment so staying home has helped our cash flow tremendously! We are actually cooking real meals for dinner now too. :) I am loving that. I am starting to feel like a good wifey and getting ready for parenthood.
And we have gotten new bffls. Our friends Alex and Jen. They are a wonderful couple from Michigan who work with us and TOTALLY ROCK! :)
James and I recently had our 1 year anniversary. We ate our top layer of our cake that James step mom saved for us. YUCK! we both ate one bite and trashed the rest. It definitely did not taste anything like the night we got married. Clearly freezing does something to a cakee. ha. We had a great annivesary; We went to filips in Little Italy and walked down to the harbor and looked at the Star of India and all the other amazing ships. Took some awesome pictures that I hope I can dowload soon and we have even gotten to spend some time with James step mom, Michelle who was in town and just so happens to have her bday the same day as our annivsary. It was fun.
We are also volunteering at church again. I am the leader of FIT on sunday nights at our new sunday night service and James works with the worship band. It is fun and such a great honor to be working for my Creator and serving the church he loves so much.
Things are looking up and I love it!

I barely have time to blog anymore
That is good and bad. I miss reading my blogs I love. But I am so busy at my new job at Smencils that I don't have time to go on the internet that much while I am there. And we try really hard to not spend that much time on the internet when we could be spending that time with each other. Lucky for me, James has been asleep for the last hour so here I am, re-connecting with my little blog world.
updates:
1. I LOVE MY NEW JOB! Smencils is amazing. I love everyone that works there. The job is busy, but fun.
2. My cousin's baby shower went GREAT! She is or should should I say was the cutest preggo lady. Lucky we had the baby shower when we did, she just had baby Dylan yesterday. :) His due date was Sept. 25 and he is adorable! I can't wait to see him in person! It makes me want to have a baby even more than I already do... is that possible???
3. WE ARE MOVING! We have had enough of the rediculous heat and mugginess in our house leading in grouchiness. And the ant problem is killing us! We have found a cute place in a little better neighborhood and has AC and a patio! It is a couple hundred more and we are pulling strings to afford it, but I know we can do it and it has given us such peace knowing we are moving there soon.
4. The new Overlow is turning into a 3rd service at our church. It will be the same message as Sunday morning with a more contemporary/young adult feel. I am so excited to be a part of the launch team! It starts at 6:30 and that means we won't need to wake up early on Sundays anymore! :)
One more thing, I am very excited for what this fall brings, holidays and colder (hopefully, but really who knows in San Diego) wheather. But with fall comes schools starting and my friends Donna and Aaron will be leaving to start thier new life in Costa Mesa. I will miss them dearly. They are amazing and have been such a exemplary couple to James and I. I ask that you join us in prayer for them as they go out to the unknown and blindly follow God to where he wants them to be. It is a hard and risky thing, as we all can imagine, but if anyone can do it, they can. I love you guys!!!

September Goals
1. Clean out closet in spare bedroom - we are either going to toss or sell mostly everything.

3. Clean whole house for move out
4. pack everything to move
5. Make cards for Sepetember birthdays - my sisters especially!
6. make one new dish/desert to try out on hubby and Smencils
7. fix up all holes in wall at old apartment and paint
8. go on date with hubby! - our year anniversary is this month!
9. Get renters ins. and all subscriptions/utilities changed and ready for move
10. Hopefully go to AZ to see my cousin's new baby boy! - Just born yesterday. I hope with the move coming we will have enough $ and time to see her!
11. Daily Quiet Time - I REALLY NEED THIS!!
Most of these have to revolve arouned our moving, so they will/should definitely be getting done this month. I made the list a little bit more reasonable for this busy month ahead of us. :)

Monthly Goals
August Goals Judgement day
Man oh man has time flew by! I have been soo busy with going out of town for my cousin's baby shower to going apartment hunting almost everyday for the past 2 weeks! But I am finally back with my monthly goals outcome. dun dun dun......
1. Do pilates video 2x a week - Not even a second thought about this one... much too busy...:(
2. Walk Peanut around the block at least 1x a week - ditto on this one too. although we did get a chance to walk him once this month, so I guess one week out of 4... so 25%??? makes me feel a little better.
3. Visit my parents in temecula at least once this month - check and double check! Went twice and it was a blast... Their house is LOVELY!
4. Have an official date with my hubby - Yep! We went out to dinner and then watched a movie at home with candle light and cuddles.
5. Finish necklaces for Ruby Darling - No, I was too busy to get a chance to work on anything, although I did sell 3 necklaces and packaged them all up pretty and sent them out... does that sorta count???
6. Create more projects to sell on Etsy -i got some more items from my grandmother, but still have yet to create.... :(
7. Clean out spare bedroom closet and sell, donate or toss everything - no, we didn't get around to this because we had crazy ant issues that took up all our time, seriously, like everyday for 2 hours we would be cleaning up ants who are climbing everywhere going after nothing. But this is scheduled for next weekend. woot!
8. Go through clothes and donate everything not worn in the past year- DONE! We even had a clothes swap here so i got rid of everything and got a couple items in return. talk about recycling!
9. Create all birthday/special event cards -Technically, no. But the only birthday in August was my guy friend, and well, he is really not a card kinda guy. So I made cupcakes instead. Does that count??? I vote yes!
11. Get our new Canon Rebel T1i camera -as you can tell from previous post, this was accomplished!
12. Finish reading "About a Boy"- nope. never happened. I guess I just couldn't get into it. So i gave up. but I did find more books to start reading soon. After the move that is.
13. Watch "Hotel Rwawanda" and give back to Jesse & P. - All done! did this the very next day after the post. The movie was really really good. You should watch.
It was an even 6 to 6 but I would say that since I only did 50 % of my goals, that was a not so good month for me. But hey, it was my first monthly list. It can only get better right??? :)
